NEGADON!

The Japanese prove once again that if there’s one thing that will never, ever go out of fashion, it’s giant fuck-ass robots slugging it out with equally enormous space devil-monsters in the middle of Tokyo.

That's pretty fricken cool, although the title is a bit lame.

I really like the adjective "fuck-ass". Maybe I'm gay.

Here's a (possibly very bad) idea. We ought to have an IL book group. The three of us read a book (preferably something short and not by Stephen King) then discuss it in a series of drunken posts. Whaddya reckon?

Sounds like a good idea. Leave out the 'read' bit, the 'discuss' bit, and the 'post' bit, but leave in the 'drunken' bit, and I'm there!

Well you don't actually have to read it. Just do like I did in high school - the first three pages, the last three pages, and ten random pages in the middle. You'll know as much as anybody then.

Actually, it could work. Then again, it could all end up like 'The Book Group', that show they had on ABC a few years back ...

I seriously think we should try it. Why not - it would give us something to do with our pathetic lives.

Yeah, well, maybe. Hey, you want to get drunk? I was down Camberwell way today, and I'm heading down there in a few days to (believe it or not) buy an accordion. I was like, all, wow, man, this is Sterne territory. I was so impressed.

I will most likely be up for some drunk action in the next few weeks. My baby is yet to arrive (currently five days overdue). So I'm still pretty much confined to the house, waiting for it to happen. We definitely need to get together sometime, though, and with James too. I think he's leaving for Brisband some time soon.

I take it you're not a huge fan of the book group idea? I think it would be amusing.

Next week, then, maybe ... send us an email during the week and we can work something out. There was a fourth person who was going to contribute to this blog too, wasn't there? Love to meet them as well! The more the merrier ...

The book group idea sounds interesting, but I've always had troubles forcing myself to review anything. Often I have troubles just forcing myself to read a book. So ... I dunno.

Fair enough. I'll probably feel the same about the idea in the morning.

There is indeed a fourth member of IL, but she is yet to post. I'm not sure if it's because she hasn't thought of anything to write, or because she's changed her mind and doesn't want to be seen in our company. I wouldn't be surprised if it is the latter.

Right now I'm off to bed. I wonder will our troll visit tonight. I'm so excited we have a troll. I hope she doesn't fuck off just because I told her to.

Drinking sounds great!

Also, the book group drunken review posting thing sounds equally great. But how to coordinate such efforts? Perhaps if the book is of reasonable length, it could be read in-store. I'm not a fan of libraries because there are too many heroin addicts in them. Hmm. Maybe project gutenberg books? At least then we're guaranteed to all have a copy. Cheap cunt that I am.

In all honesty, I think this blog has a lot of potential. It would be good for us to brainstorm some unique ideas and put them into effect. Tiny Tim's 'Comparing A Classic Work Of Literature With A Mundane Item' was a hit, and Boss Tim's 'Quote, Punquote' was pretty good until I ruined it for everybody. I think the 'Tipoff Time With Intersecting Lines' is a decent enough idea, and Boss Tim seemed to like the 'The Age Reviews: Bullshit' (ie reviews of reviews).

If we pooled all that sort of shit, and had some dialogue with MYSTERY FOURTH PARTY, we could have something pretty enjoyable here, and, whatsmore, something that we'll all continue to be enthusiastic about posting to.

We've all had some decent ideas. Don't know about you guys, but I'm a little wary about repeating ideas unless I feel I can get something new out of them.

It'd be great to meet up with everyone and talk about ideas and - more importantly - drink and have fun.

BTW, we've got some interesting feedback at this blog. I've responded - in a rather long-winded and tedious way. I think she makes some good points.

If only The Age's book reviews were all as good and interesting as that.
